How Much Time Do You Need in boulder
One day in Boulder is a great amount of time to do a short hike trail, see the downtown, and get a great meal. Boulder makes for a nice day trip from Denver, and can also be a good homebase for visiting Rocky Mountain National Park.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO EAT, SEE, AND DO IN BOULDER
Dushanbe Tea House
Dushanbe is an ornate teahouse shipped piece by piece from Tajikistan and rebuilt next to a creek in Boulder. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and if you’re able to, you should definitely sit inside so you can admire all the intricate details of the building – it’s absolutely stunning. All of the food and teas here are outstanding – even if you don’t think you like tea, you will be able to find something you like.
They start you off with some of the freshest, fluffiest, tastiest bread you will ever eat. We went for a birthday and after ordering seconds (and maybe thirds) of the bread, they gifted us a few pieces to take home. Both the tea and food menus are pretty expansive with options from around the world. They also have loads of gluten free and vegan options here. For food, I recommend the Spicy Indonesian Peanut Noodles or the Malaysian Sambal Curry. Oh and don’t forget the hummus and samosas! For tea, they have pages and pages of options – black, green, oolong, fruity, floral, really anything you can think of, but they’re famous for their homemade chai. It’s so good that even when you’re buzzing from drinking too much caffeine, you still can’t put it down.
Walk around the Pearl Street Mall
Boulder has such a cute downtown! Pearl Street Mall is an outdoor area consisting of about 4 blocks. Here you’ll find tons of little shops, art galleries, and restaurants. There’s also street performers, chalk art, and sometimes food trucks!
Walk around Arrowwood Park
If you want to take a nice nature walk on a groomed trail, try walking the well-maintained path at Arrowwood Park. You’ll have some water crossings using bridges and walk streamside for a while. It’s a very peaceful walk. If you are more of a biker, you can also bike parts of this path.
Hike
Boulder is home to some pretty great hiking. University students and visitors both flock to the First and Second Flatiron trail. You can make it an out and back or a loop. Depending on the season, you may need to pay a fee or use a shuttle to access this trail. Try parking on Chautauqua or Flagstaff Road.
First and Second Flatiron Trail
Mileage: 2.5 – 3.5 depending on if you do the loop or out and back
Difficulty: Hard
Total Elevation Change: 1,446 feet
